Building Construction is in our DNA. We have been in this space for more than 15 years. But our story did not start here in the United States of America. It started on the small island of Jamaica 15 years ago when we were just young men working on newly constructed hotel sites on the island. Back then the only skilled we had was to stand on the sideline and mixed cement for more highly skilled trade men.
The guys and I were from the same village on the island and we all would talk to one another about how we need to become more than just cement mixers and try to learn skills such as bricks laying, tiling, plumbing, dry walling, etc. We all set out to make sure we ask the much experienced trade men to mentor us and teach us how to do these highly sort after skillset. Over the years we formed a pact with our mentors and from one hotel construction sites after another we hone in on our skillset until we became pros at what we do.
Over the years working on the island we became one of the top construction development crew which at the time consisting of eight guys that specialized in specific skillset. In our crew some of us Masonry, Plumber, Tilers, Carpenters, Finishers. We have worked our way from just cement mixers to highly skilled trade men and we were winning contracts for all the major new hotel development on the island. We have worked on major hotel chains from the likes of Behia Principe Grand, Runaway Bay, RIUs and Sandals.
Fast forward to present day we are operating in the same space but different market. Over the last eight years most of the original construction crew has migrated to the United States of America and rightfully so, we all decided to get together and start what is known today as Torchy Construction Company. Where we focus on interior design for residential home, apartment, office building, small and large commercial construction finishing.
